Descriptions of some of the courses sponsored by HeartLand:

THE SPINE COURSE (16 hr. CEU) includes cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral, coccygeal and pelvic segments. Extra attention is given to additional postural muscle releases, including the iliopsoas, piriformis, and quadratus lumborum.

CHAPMAN’S LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE REFLEXES (18 hr. CEU) are specific points located on the front and back of the body that when stimulated induce lymphatic drainage of various lymphatic vessel beds. By stimulating these points, each specific for a different organ or part of the body, you can greatly enhance the self-generated recuperative powers of the immune system and speed recovery from various common maladies such as colds, flu, headache, menstrual pain, sore throat, etc. A textbook is included as part of the course with detailed illustrations showing the exact locations of all points. Originally designed for the Osteopathic profession by Frank and J.B.Chapman, Osteopaths who practiced in the early 1900’s. Taken up again in the 1970’s by Chiropractors and massage therapists learning Touch for Health, where about 14 of the 125 reflexes are shown as Neurolymphatics. Ortho-Bionomy® has reintroduced Chapman’s Reflexes, in their complete 125 point form, as part of the disciplines to be taught to all Ortho-Bionomists to expand the therapeutic possibilities of gentle touch.

ORTHO-BIONOMY SELF HELP CLASS (16 hr. CEU) utilizes principles and philosophy of Ortho-Bionomy to expand awareness of our inherent self-corrective natures. We will monitor internal trigger points while searching for the most comfortable posture that relieves them as this induces spontaneous release of contracted muscles and ligaments. We will learn exercises that relax the cranium, spine, and extremities. Of course, each of these procedures can be taught to clients (in your own workshops) as first aid measures and as a way for them to progress between visits. Besides the self-monitored releases and exercises there will also be guided imagery to help us visualize healing areas of pain and send energetic relief. This class is accompanied by the text, BALANCE THE CENTER, by Christy Frederich, certified Ortho-Bionomist. This text can be reviewed by visiting her website at www.balancethecenter.com.

THE EXTREMITIES COURSE (24 hr. CEU) includes the release of the ribs, shoulder, including frozen shoulder, clavicle, scapula, elbow, wrist and fingers with emphasis on the tennis elbow and the carpal tunnel syndromes. In the lower extremities are included the hip sockets, knees, ankles, feet and toes with emphasis on knee sprains, sprained ankles, dropped metetarsal, longitudinal arches and the bunion correction.

POSTURES AND POST TECHNIQUES (16 hr. CEU) Postures and Post expands on the Basic course to review, address, and, in some cases successfully empower correction of abnormal spinal curvatures commonly encountered. Addresses Scoliosis Lateral spinal curvature, Kyphosis Abnormal posterior curvature, Anterior Dorsal Pinching and Posterior. Ortho-Bionomy exercises can restore proper spinal curvature enhancing whole body wellbeing. The Post expands the Basic Spinal and Basic Extremities courses by showing the specific sets of passive and active exercises used in Ortho-Bionomy for all spinal procedures and specific extremities. Included are special ISOMETRIC exercises designed by Arthur Lincoln Pauls, founder of Ortho-Bionomy, to assist in dramatic rehabilitation and remobilization of damaged or “frozen” joints.

THE ADVANCED COURSE (24 hr. CEU) introduces subtle and energetic aspects of Ortho- Bionomy designed to induce spontaneous, regenerative healing processes through contact with the innate wisdom of the body. This activates and empowers the client’s own self correction reflexes – not by movements the practitioner generates, but by the client who generates their own motions unconsciously. The practitioner observes, encourages and follows the lead of the client. The principles taught are expanded into the electromagnetic field of the client, where energetic contact is made and the client self-corrects their own energetic patterns. This results in “physical” as well as energetic corrections as the innate healing power of the client comes forward while the practitioner steps back to allow space for client growth. The concept of “energy centers” and their balancing are introduced and practiced. The Advanced work addresses the psychic, mental, emotional and spiritual underpinnings of the client’s physical discomfort, thus facilitating holistic healing, the healing of the whole Being!

THE CRANIAL CLASS (16 hr. CEU) for beginners, is to introduce the anatomy/physiology regarding normal and abnormal cranial bone movement/stress and then approach any abnormality found with simple cranial fascial and muscular releases. We review the anatomy/physiology of the cranium and learn to palpate and assess cranial sutures and common trigger points and then practice on each other to experience releases ourselves and gain proficiency in the techniques of gentle motions with deep respiratory assist.

Other classes may include:
HOMEOPATHY
HOLISTIC NUTRITION (24 hr. CEU)
ETHICS & EMOTIONAL ISSUES
